Debra Hydorn
Debra Hydorn is a Professor in the Mathematics Department at the University of Mary Washington. She earned her B.S. in Applied Mathematics and Zoology and Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Michigan and also has a Masters Degree in Mathematics from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Her professional interests include mathematics and statistics education, including undergraduate research and service learning. She has mentored 23 different undergraduate research projects, include four projects for a PIC MATH course. While serving as the chair of her department she was successful in getting the Mathematics and Computer Science departments added to the university’s 10-week Summer Science Institute. She later served as the Co-Director of this summer undergraduate research program. She is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Statistics Education, which recently published her article on types of undergraduate research in statistics.
