Jan Rychtář has been involved in undergraduate research since 2004. He joined the Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics at VCU in Fall 2019. Over the course of his career he directly supervised over 120 undergraduate students; many of which with his close collaborator Dr. Dewey Taylor. His students co-authored over 55 papers published in peer-reviewed journals. Many of his students presented their projects at professional venues, including international conferences in India, England, and Canada. One of his students received an NSF graduate fellowship grant, two students received Goldwater scholarships. None of his achievement would be possible without the hard work of the students themselves and without the support, encouragement, and interactions with many colleagues, including Drs. Crowe, Dorff, Taylor, Erovenko, Klyve, Oh, Gupta, Rueppell, Chhetri, Remington and many others.
